CE/T Standards Development Committee

The IACET Standards Development Committee (SDC) is responsible for conducting the technical work required to develop, revise, and maintain IACET standards. The committee is established whenever a decision is made to create a new standard or revise an existing one.

Working under the direction of the IACET Council on Standards Development (ICSD), the SDC brings together subject-matter experts and stakeholders to research, draft, and refine standards that support quality and integrity in continuing education and training. The committee’s work ensures that standards are developed through a structured, transparent process informed by industry best practices, regulatory considerations, and stakeholder needs.

The SDC oversees the preparation of working drafts and guides them through the standards development process until they are ready for publication. This includes coordinating technical discussions, reviewing feedback from stakeholders, and managing the work of any subcommittees or task groups established to support the drafting process.

Through ongoing review and maintenance activities, the SDC also ensures that published standards remain relevant, effective, and aligned with the evolving needs of the field. Standards under the committee’s jurisdiction are periodically evaluated and updated as necessary to maintain their viability and usefulness.

  • Work collaboratively with the ICSD, the Council and Consensus Body Liaison, and the SDC Chair to guide standards projects approved for development.
  • Establish and oversee subcommittees or task groups responsible for specific portions of the drafting process.
