Description

The purpose of this study was to explore the social, personal, and cultural factors that may have contributed to the understanding of neurodiversity as viewed by Aboriginal communities in Canada. The study also sought clarification and explanation as to why Aboriginal populations with neurodiversities have been overlooked or misdiagnosed by western medicine. This paper focuses on the lived experiences of ten individuals who identify as being part of the Aboriginal communities located in Canada and how they view the concept of neurodiversity in today’s world.
