(Herndon, VA, September 18, 2018) – During its annual Business Meeting on September 13th in Houston, Texas, the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) presented its 2017 Awards.  These honorees are deserving innovators who have significantly contributed to the field of continuing education and training.  The award winners are:

  • The Exemplar Training Organization Award, IACET’s most prestigious award, goes to Frontline Healthcare Worker's Safety Foundation
The Foundation developed four online courses as part of a program to improve laboratory safety and biosecuity in Pakistan.  The courses consisted of Dual Use Research of Concern; Biorisk Management; Biowaste Management; and Care and Use of Biosafety Cabinets. The quality of these programs were exemplary and modeled the IACET Stanadard for Continuing Education and Training.  More information can be found at FrontlineFoundation.org.
  • The IACET Innovation of the Year Award for Technology Integration goes to NACE International.
Developed a simulation of a Cathodic Protection (CP) field environment.  The software looks like a field, with pipes, measurement devices and controls.  It simulates high voltage field and rectifier testing that pipeline engineers use in real world situations.  Utilizing the simulator, the learners can calculate voltage, check field conditions and simulate what they would do in the field safely and cost effectively.  Each of the online stations has a direct correlation to a station that we teach in the classroom course and the stations students are tested on to earn certification.  By using the simulator to supplement their learning, learners are able to practice inside or outside of the classroom.  Please visit this link to see a model of the station: https://www.nace.org/Training-and-Education/Training-Programs/Cathodic-Protection-Virtual-Training-Simulator/
  • The Exemplar Honorable Mention Training Organization Award goes to TRUMPF Inc. from Farmington, Connecticut. The TRUMPF Training Center developed an apprenticeship program in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Labor to fight the skills gap.  The graduates from the TRUMPF apprenticeship program are highly skilled and well prepared to support the organization's mission. At the same time, the appreticeship program provides young people, who are often stuck in low-skill, minimum wage jobs with an excellent start into a promising career.

"IACET is pleased to recognize these winners as representing the highest quality in adult training and education today. Each winner has accomplished outstanding results through a keen focus on best practices in the field of continuing adult education in the workplace." said Joe McClary, IACET CEO.
