What does the Standard Measure?

The IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training (C/ET) evaluates your organization's Instructional Design and Delivery Management System across nine classifications.

  1. Organization Responsibility & Control: Identifies the team that manages your organization's CE/T programs and confirms they have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively.
  2. Learning Environments & Support Systems: Ensures that learning environments and support services are provided that reflect the intent of your program and are effective for achieving all expected outcomes.
  3. Planning & Personnel: Validates that each of your organization's learning events are planned in response to the identified needs of a target audience and the personnel involved at all levels are qualified and competent.
  4. Needs Analysis: Verifies your organization has clear and documented processes for collecting and distilling the needs that are the drivers for the learning event.
  5. Learning Outcomes: Affirms your organization  has clear and concise written statements of intended learning outcomes for each learning event based on identified needs.
  6. Content & Instructional Methods: Validates your organization's processes that determine whether the content and instructional methods are appropriate for each learning outcome.
  7. Assessment of Learning Outcomes: Ensures your organization has procedures established during event planning that are used to assess achievement of the learning outcomes.
  8. System for Awarding the CEU and Maintaining Learner Records: Demonstrates your organization's ability to maintain accurate, permanent learner records and provide copies upon request.
  9. Program Evaluation: Verifies the major elements of your organization's CE/T programs are evaluated periodically for the purpose of continual improvement.
