In this presentation we will discuss the experience of Al-Quds Open University in providing continuing education and lifelong learning to the communities living in remote and marginalized areas as well as the communities suffering from poverty and underdeveloped services. Additionally, we will discuss how the continue education industry can benefit from distance education features to provide lifelong learning opportunities to all segments of the community. By the end of this session, students will be able to:

  • Recognize the role of open education in catering to the continuing education needs of diversified groups of students.
  • Discuss the open education concept in an occupied and segmented country as a means to provide continuous education and lifelong learning opportunities (“Education at your doorstep”).
  • Identify how open education and technological environments increase the role of continue education.
