The 5 Cs of Better Distance Learning: Compile, Create, Connect, Complete, and Comply

Brief Description:

This session is for anyone who is interested in teaching distance learning courses online or anyone who wishes to improve their online courses overall. Whether you are creating original course content yourself or are teaching from an existing template, you will find ways to improve your process and maximize your efficiency without degrading the quality of your instruction.

Education is about far more than just conveying information. It’s also about inspiring your students, touching their lives and making a difference in the world. All too often, moving courses online removes the passion and inspiration from the process — but it doesn’t have to.

Jane Curth has been in education her entire professional life as a Professor of Health and Kinesiology, specializing in bringing her department into the world of online education. Tasked with creating and executing the first online courses that her department had ever offered, Jane became certified as a peer reviewer for Quality Matters. She has reviewed online courses around the nation to ensure that high standards are maintained. As such, she has perfected the art of teaching online and doing so in ways that really engage students. With this session, you can discover for yourself how to let your own talents and passion as an educator shine through.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be able to…

  • Generate unique ideas for conveying course materials to students
  • Evaluate existing courses to determine ideal ways to improve content
  • Implement systems to better-engage students
