A Practical Approach to Training Adults is an engaging and powerful blended workshop that covers current and traditional adult learning theories and practical instructional design and delivery strategies and techniques. Taught by our IACET commissioners, this workshop will provide learners with foundational knowledge, tools, and techniques to immediately enhance their unique experiences, expand their abilities to deliver quality learning events, and produce a sound return on investment.
This workshop content uniquely aligns with the new ANSI/IACET 1-2023 Standard for Continuing Education and Training. It also prepares instructors and CE/T professionals to support their organizations’ accreditation efforts by providing high-quality learning experiences and programs.
Pre Work: There will be a short elearning module (about 30 minutes) that will be delivered through IACET's LMS to prepare learners for the actual virtual workshop. Completing this module will be required and tracked.
Learners will have opportunities to immediately apply concepts while completing a training plan and presenting a "capstone" project.
Recommended Audience: This workshop is designed for those who are new to training and subject matter experts who are assisting with the development and delivery of training.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, the learners will:
- Discuss key adult learning theories and how instructional design supports the learning process, including:
o Needs Analysis
o Learning Outcomes
o Content Development and Delivery Methods
o Assessment
o Evaluation
- Analyze how these concepts relate to training experiences
- Practice instructional design knowledge and skills by creating and presenting a training plan
- Create action plans to put concepts to work
Expectations for Successful Completion and Awarding of Digital Badge:
- Demonstrate the learning outcomes through pre workshop e-learning module, knowledge checks, challenges, activities, and the capstone project
- Complete pre work and attend the entire course
- Actively participate in and contribute to the Organization Training Plan and Presentation Capstone Project
System Requirements and Security: These sessions are designed to be highly interactive; recreating the live classroom experience in a virtual environment. Remote attendees must have a webcam and microphone functioning on their computer to participate in this workshop. When participating in remote events, your online security is very important to us. Best practices for Zoom will be utilized to ensure a safe and secure experience for all participants.
