Please note the multiple dates and times:

Part One: The self-directed e-learning module is designed to provide you a foundation built on theory and solid design principles prior to the virtual workshop.

Part Two: On October 26 (8:30 am ET to 4:00 pm ET) and October 27 (8:30 am ET to 12:00 Noon ET), you will delve deeper into the open digital badging ecosystem through the instructor-led, virtual workshop that helps you design and develop an operational badging program within your organization.

Part Three: On November 30 (8:30 am ET to 12 Noon ET), you will showcase your open digital badge and detailed plans for a badging program. In this final half-day session on November 30, you will have 15 minutes to present your finished badge and plans for further program development and to see other participants' progress. 

At the end of this session, you will be assessed on proficiency based on instructor evaluation of the open digital badge and proposed program.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Define a badging platform and recognize its purpose
  • Explain the need for unique evidence to support the purpose of the badge
  • Recognize how curricular design allows portability and shareability across multiple media
  • Outline how stackability contributes to a digital portfolio of accomplishments and learning recognition
  • Identify how to work with metadata to streamline some processes while producing evidence-rich credentials
  • Develop a prototype badge based on IACET’s ODB Taxonomy
  • Design an open digital badge strategy and advocacy plan for program development
