About

The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is an internationally recognized leader in emergency response training, workforce training and technical assistance. Over the past ten years, TEEX has served an average of more than 100,000 Texans annually, reaching 98% of Texas counties.

Outside of Texas, TEEX has a far-reaching impact. Curriculum designers tailor training to meet customer needs, and instructors deliver courses globally. Last year, TEEX served people from every U.S. state and territory and 118 countries worldwide.

Major TEEX programs include Fire and Emergency Services, Infrastructure and Safety, Law Enforcement and Protective Services and Business and Cyber Solutions. Additionally, through its National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC), TEEX provides federally funded homeland security training and technical assistance for communities across the nation. Beyond training and technical assistance, the Agency also sponsors Texas A&M Public Works Response Team (TX-PWRT) and Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1).

Fire and Emergency Services
TEEX provides training in industrial and municipal firefighting, community preparedness and emergency response, urban search and rescue, hazardous materials, oil spill response and EMS.

Infrastructure and Safety
Infrastructure must be able to support the exponential growth of US cities. TEEX trains personnel in transportation and highway safety, environmental health and safety and utilities such as water, electricity and gas and supports municipalities who need assistance in these areas.

Law Enforcement and Protective Services
TEEX trains law enforcement personnel in corrections, forensics and investigations, explosives and ordnance, motorcycle operations, sports and special events management and school safety.

Business and Cyber Solutions
Cyber threats continue to increase, and our services are tailored to help any municipality or organization build and improve cyber resiliency. TEEX has also developed a Cyber Training and Exercise Range to simulate cyberattacks for training purposes.

National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC)
NERRTC, a founding member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium and funded by DHS/FEMA, provides local, state, tribal and territorial jurisdictions with scenario-driven leadership training and technical assistance. Since 1998, NERRTC has provided training to more than 995,000 responders in all U.S. states and territories.

Disaster Response Teams
Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) is a search and rescue team that provides emergency response personnel and resources during disasters. Texas A&M Public Works Response Team (TX-PWRT) includes public works professionals and equipment that restore public works such as water, gas and electricity after a disaster. Both of these response teams are supported by TEEX.
