Announcement

The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is committed to facilitating a smooth and informed accreditation journey for all those seeking to demonstrate their adherence to the Standard for Continuing Education and Training.

While we had hoped to have the 2023 revision of the Standard published by now, we wish to inform you that the release of the Standard and the accompanying applications for accreditation continue to experience delays.

During our latest feedback phase, we discovered a few areas in the Standard that required some language adjustments to ensure clarity of the document.  Rather than publish a Standard that would not promote the quality we expect of ourselves, we have elected to make those adjustments.  To ensure transparency of these changes and to ensure stakeholder consensus, we are entering into a third Request for Comment phase.  This phase will last 30 days and provide you with an opportunity to review these adjustments.

Once the Request for Comment phase has been completed, the updated Standard must undergo internal processes before being submitted for external review by ANSI.  The timing for these reviews can be variable and not completely predicted.

Due to the absence of a definitive timeline, precise guidance on the transition to the new standards is currently challenging.

What This Means for You:

  • Continuation with 2018 Standards: Upon the release of the new 2023 Standard and Application, we will accept applications based on the 2018 Standard for a minimum of 90 days. This means if the new Standard is released on July 1, applications under the 2018 standards will be accepted until September 30. This policy is in place to ensure a seamless transition for all our applicants.
  • Guidance for Accredited Providers seeking Re-Accreditation: According to the Guide to IACET Accreditation, applications for reaccreditation must be submitted at least 90 days before the current accreditation expires. Providers whose accreditations expire on or before October 30, 2024, should use the 2018 application form. For those expiring in November or December 2024, use the 2018 application if you plan to submit before August 1; otherwise, wait for the 2023 revision. Providers with accreditations expiring in 2025 are advised to use the forthcoming 2023 Standard application, although this is contingent on the exact release date of the revision.
    • Changes in Application Requirements: Please note, as part of the transition to the 2023 Standard, the abbreviated re-accreditation application process will be phased out. All re-accrediting applicants will be required to complete the full application, aligning with our commitment to uphold the highest standards of quality and integrity in accreditation.
  • Guidance for Prospective Provider seeking Initial Accreditation: For those providers who have already purchased a 2018 Application, if your application expiration date is prior to October 30, 2024, we encourage you to go ahead and accredit under the 2018 Standard using the 2018 application.

Other Transition Information:

  • All Accredited Providers will be provided with a complimentary copy of the 2023 Revision.
  • Any Accredited Provider with an unexpired, unsubmitted reaccreditation application will be provided with a complimentary copy of the reaccreditation application aligned to the 2023 revision.  The complimentary copy will expire on the same date as the application for the 2018 Standard.
  • Any Prospective Accredited Provider with an unexpired, unsubmitted initial application will be provided with a complimentary copy of the initial application aligned to the 2023 revision.  The complimentary copy will expire on the same date as the application for the 2018 Standard.
