How do organizations recognize their talent’s knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) gained both through work and other experiences and translate them into credentials that matter? When industry and higher education work together they can reach the goal to equip talent with the ability to transparently share their KSAs in a way that contributes to personal and organizational growth.

Cali Morrison

Dr. Cali M.K. Morrison is associate dean, alternative learning at American Public University System where she is building competency-based learning opportunities, microcredentials, and the prior learning assessment program. She earned an Ed.D. in higher education administration and M.Ed. in student affairs at Montana State University and a graduate certificate in women’s studies and a B.A. in public relations at Western Kentucky University. Previously Cali was assistant director, communications and analysis at the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies (WCET) and project director of Transparency by Design, where she became interested in studying adult learners and accountability. In 2012 she also ran the WCET Games + Badging initiative at WCET “You’ve got CLASS.” Cali spent over seven years at Montana State University managing Extension Service grants, conducting assessment and managing the Hughes Undergraduate Biology Program, as well as serving as the Greek advisor. Current research interests include competency-based education and the future of credentials. Cali has presented at various conferences on the future of credentials, competency-based education, and accountability in higher education. Cali lives near Bozeman, MT with her husband, two daughters, and dogs where she is active in the community, especially with the Girls for a Change and CAP mentoring programs.
