Objectives and Summary

  1. Explore how 2st century technology has transformed our ways of knowing, doing, and communicating.
  2. Learn how digital tools can enable community-building efforts.
  3. Hear about examples of engagement strategies that meet the needs of today’s diverse population.

Today’s dynamic world reflects major changes in daily life. Powerful digital tools enable instantaneous communication, but how might these interactions become effective mechanisms that improve teaching and learning? Presenters will focus on harnessing 21st century tools for community building, looking at strategies that engage colleagues, teachers, students, and families. Presenters will share real-world stories about building a responsive culture of continuous learning.

Overview
Presenters will explore ways that the digital world has transformed our lives, using research-based data to validate the impact of today’s technology on teachers, learners, and the workforce. They will share examples related to the positive and negative impact of digital tools on family life, instructional environments, and human relationships. Presenters will describe authentic community-building efforts and share stories of success in early childhood education. The audience will be invited to consider how they can make plans to inspire and implement a sense of community in their own local areas. Presenters will ask participants to think about how each one of them can become a catalyst for change. What can they do to build capacity for advancing the strategic use of technology that has the capacity to strengthen relationships, create mutually supportive communities, promote the well-being of children and families, and improve teaching and learning? This webinar hopes to energize and motivate ECE leaders to become well-informed advocates willing to embrace digital tools to make a difference in the quality of relationships and the future of education in our highly diverse society.
