About the Exemplar Award:
The IACET Exemplar Award honors exemplary, results-oriented programs or projects that demonstrate cost-effective, significant and relevant impact on the populations served.  This award also honors deserving programs that have significantly contributed to the field of continuing education and training.

Exemplar Award for External Training: Technology Transfer Services, Inc.
IACET AP Representative: LeAnne Selman

Technology Transfer Services, Inc. demonstrated a thorough overall program and strategy that lead to successful outcomes for increasing new hire skills at the ExxonMobil King Ranch Gas Plant in South Texas.  This need stemmed from a loss of experienced employees to the inevitable and anticipated job change called retirement.  Subject matter experts travelled on-site to conduct a series of interviews for the purpose of gathering data from technicians.  During this interview process technicians were given the option to verbally explain tasks, or demonstrate performance of certain tasks.   The interview data was compiled and included gaps in the technical foundation and basic craft skills. The recommendation to close the gap resulted in a blended learning plan.  Technology Transfer Services, Inc. seeks to ascertain the ongoing educational needs of its clients, across all industries and disciplines, and will create and/or modify programs to meet these changing, discipline‐specific, educational needs.  The outcomes of this program were indisputably successful with Post-test scores upwards of 97% for all craft and technical areas.

Exemplar Award for Internal Training:
NASA Academy of Program/Project and Engineering Leadership (APPEL)
IACET AP Representatives: Tony Maturo and Donna Wilson

The Academy is the central source of training and professional development for program/project and systems engineers at NASA.  The Academy supports NASA's mission by developing individual capability, team performance, and knowledge resources, and its products and services are designed to address the competencies required for project management and systems engineering across four career levels - from team member to program manager or chief engineer.

From Needs Analysis and Program Planning, through Program Delivery and Program Evaluation, the Academy has a thorough and effective program that promotes career and professional development for its internal employees.

The Academy utilizes NASA subject matter experts in the design and development of every program and identifies evolving or emerging needs through collaboration with NASA Mission

Directorates.  Its programs build individual capability through highly interactive courses featuring case study analyses, group discussions, individual and team exercises, and simulations. Participants are encouraged to learn from instructors and one another.  The Academy also sponsors hands‐on learning opportunities and development assignments through Hands‐On Project Experience (HOPE), a cooperative workforce development program.

About the Distinguished Service Award:
The Distinguished Service Award honors deserving individuals that have significantly contributed to the field of continuing education and training recognizes an individual for exceptional service and major leadership to IACET.

Distinguished Service Award Recipient: Jo Ann Linseisen

Jo Ann has served as a Commissioner since 2004. In that time, she's conducted numerous lead reviews and site visits, actively participated in a variety of ad hoc groups and task forces, held leadership positions and assisted IACET staff with projects.

She served as the Commission Vice-Chair in 2007, Commission Co-Chair in 2008 and 2009 and Commission Chair in 2010. Together with the Executive Committee, she participated in the development and implementation of a process to evaluate the performance of Commissioners and a process for evaluating commission applications. They updated IACET's Commission Policies and Procedures manual, worked with IACET staff to develop and participate in the popular AP assistance webinars, developed an AP non-compliance policy, fielded a Commissioner needs assessment survey which formed the basis for the Fall 2009 Commissioner training, developed the Fall 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Commission training and worked with a Board task force investigating the possibility of IACET applying for Department of Education recognition.

Jo Ann has reviewed and served as site visitor for over 80 applications and counting!  She has contributed to the success of the Commission and has continued to offer her expertise in accreditation, project management, process improvement and facilitation.

She has inspired others to get involved and to quote one of her fellow Commissioners, "Jo Ann is the calm voice of reason and is a charismatic leader.  She is always so calm, cool, and collected and her thought provoking attitude and insight has led to clarification and harmonious Executive Committee decisions that moved the Commission forward."
