Licensed Standards User (LSU)

The Licensed Standards User (LSU) is for use by organizations that wish to use the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard and required practices as the basis of continuing education and/or training standards particular to their field of expertise.

Who can be an LSU:

The Licensed Standards User Category is a category of membership for organizations that are establishing their own standards for accrediting, credentialing, or certifying providers of continuing education and training for their particular field.  The Licensed Standards User Category comprises associations or organizations which:

1. Are not-for-profit professional membership associations or organizations, or local, state, or national government agencies, which accredit, credential, or certify training providers only for their particular profession; and
2. Wish to use the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard for Quality Continuing Education and Training (to include the required practices) as the basis for their own standards and required practices.
   

The LSU membership category licenses the use of copyrighted ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard and required practices to organizations that wish to use them as the basis of continuing education and/or training standards particular to their field of expertise. IACET Licensed Standards Users employ the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard as the basis of their own standards to promote quality and consistency in their continuing education and training programs; review educational and training processes used by the established Standard; and recognize providers that adhere to effective practices by the Standard.

Some of the major requirements of LSUs are:

1. Submit a complete and properly signed Licensed Standards User Application
2. Be approved and have written permission from IACET to use the Standard and required practices as the basis for the standards for a profession/organization.
3. Agree to use the Standard and required practices as prescribed by IACET in the Licensed Standards User Category Policies and Procedures and the Licensed Standards User Agreement.
4. Successfully complete IACET’s site visit criteria.
5. Maintain IACET organizational membership for the duration of the Licensed Standards User period.
6. Pay a Licensed Standards User annual fee to IACET for the use of the Standard and required practices.
