IACET Commission

The IACET Commission directs and administers the process by which organizations are approved as Authorized Providers or Licensed Standards Users.  The Commission reviews applications and determines whether the applicant should be granted or denied Authorized Provider membership status. The Commission also monitors the activities of the organizations to determine compliance with the Standards and takes any action which may be appropriate.

The members of the Commission are appointed by the Board for terms of three years based on recommendations from a task force consisting of the Commission executive committee, plus two representatives from the Board.  The Chair of the Commission is appointed by the president of the Board of Directors, with approval by the Board membership.

The Commission’s process of review and approval of Authorized Providers or Licensed Standards Users operates independently of influence and control of the Board of Directors in their approval decision. However, the Board functions as an appellate body to review decisions when requested.  The operations of the Commission are governed by IACET’s Bylaws, the association Policies and Procedures, and the Commission Policies and Procedures, which are submitted for review and approval by the Board of Directors at least every two years or as changes are proposed.
