ANSI/IACET Standards

IACET has a rich history of promoting educational quality. Created in 1968, IACET's Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Continuing Education and Training Programs are the standards by which hundreds of organizations measure their educational offerings.

Based on the original Criteria and Guidelines, IACET's newly-approved ANSI/IACET Standards address processes for designing, developing, and delivering continuing education and training, not the content of individual programs, which means that our Standards apply across all disciplines.  Through an emphasis on the educational processes, the Standards ensure clear program development and valuable learning outcomes.

Competitive Advantage

With a growing number of providers in the marketplace, how can your customers find a quality educational offering so they can make the best education investment?  Learners know that IACET has developed standards for continuing education and training for almost 40 years.  This gives IACET Authorized Providers (APs) a considerable advantage over their non-authorized competitors.

What Do the Standards Measure?

The ANSI/IACET Standards measure all aspects of an educational provider's program development. IACET Authorized Providers have demonstrated that their programs meet ten nationally-recognized Standards. Here is an overview of the Standards and the aspect each evaluates:

  • Standard 1: Continuing Education and Training Organization
  • Standard 2: Responsibility and Control
  • Standard 3: The Learning Environment and Support Systems
  • Standard 4: Learning Event Planning
  • Standard 5: Learning Outcomes
  • Standard 6: Planning and Instructional Personnel
  • Standard 7: Content and Instructional Methods
  • Standard 8: Assessment of Learning Outcomes
  • Standard 9: System for Awarding CEUs and Maintaining Learner Records
  • Standard10: Program Evaluation
