Become an Authorized Provider
The majority of IACET’s membership consists of Authorized Providers (APs), organizations that meet IACET's internationally recognized continuing education and training standards. Only Authorized Providers may award IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).IACET APs vary widely in the markets they serve, ranging from associations of technicians and nurses; to colleges and corporate universities that provide professional development; to boards, bureaus and government agencies that offer training and certification.
Organizations become Authorized Providers only after successful completion of an application and site visit.
The purposes of the IACET Authorized Provider approval process are to:
- Promote quality and consistency in continuing education and training;
- Review educational processes used by organizations, not the content of activities, courses, or program;
- Monitor providers against established ANSI/IACET Standards;
- Recognize providers that adhere to the effective practices found in the ANSI/IACET Standards.
Who Can Become an Authorized Provider?
Any organization that offers continuing education and/or training programs may apply for Authorized Provider status if it:Organizations having multiple units or subsidiaries providing continuing education and training must submit a separate application for each unit or subsidiary.
- Is chartered by the state, incorporated, a recognized sole-proprietorship, or a government unit;
- Has a well-defined organizational structure in which the authority and responsibility for administering continuing education and/or training events is assigned to a particular department or unit;
- Has its educational/training events administered by an individual or group that can ensure that all ANSI/IACET Standards are met; and
- Has operated under the conditions and processes described in the application for a minimum of one year.
Approval Process
The approval process is governed and administered by the IACET Commission, which consists of up to 35 volunteer members. The review and approval process takes approximately 3-4 months after the completed application is received, and can take longer depending on whether additional information is required. If more than one application re-submission and review is required, the applicant will be charged an additional fee. It is strongly recommended that applicants attend an Authorized Provider workshop prior to submittal to ensure that they fully understand the requirements of the ANSI/IACET Standards and the application process.
