The IACET Council on Standards Development (ICSD) is responsible for the development, maintenance and dissemination of evidence-based standards that promote and enhance quality continuing education and training (CE/T).
IACET was recognized as an ANSI-Accredited standards developing organization (SDO) in 2006. As an SDO, IACET’s ICSD provides a method to assure that suggestions for improvement, questions from users of the standard, or requests for interpretations of the standard are handled in a fair and consistent manner. Suggestions for improvement or questions concerning the standard are reviewed by the ICSD.
Submit a written request for an official interpretation of a standard category or element.
IACET formed the ICSD to simplify the original Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Continuing Education and Training Programs: The CEU and Other Measurement Units by streamlining and removing any disconnects and duplications. This led to the development of a set standard, which was submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for approval as an American National Standard (ANS). This activity was accomplished in October of 2007. IACET holds the ANS for a quality process in continuing education and training.
Guided by the IACET vision and the U.S. Department of Education’s goals for CE/T, the ICSD operates from a set of strategic goals and action plans that reflects field research and other new information related to CE/T quality and excellence.
IACET APs adhere to a quality
